About Kevin Sussman
Kevin Sussman is an American actor best known for his roles in Ugly Betty and The Big Bang Theory.
Staten Island, New York, the United States of America
Sussman graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. He studied with Uta Hagen for four years. He married Alessandra Young in 2006, but they divorced in 2017.
Sussman specialized in geek and nerdy roles since the start of his career. Early on, he appeared in such roles in ads. Then, in 1999, he had his film debut with Liberty Heights.
He was cast in Ugly Betty. He played Walter for sixteen episodes and had a main role in the first season. Walter was the boyfriend of Betty Suarez, the main character of the show, but they had relationship troubles, mostly originating on his end of the situation.
In 2011 and 2012, he worked with John Ross Bowie, another member of The Big Bang Theory cast to create The Ever After Part and The Second Coming of Rob.
Sussman was cast as Stuart Bloom in The Big Bang Theory in 2009, two years after it launched. He remained a part of the cast until 2019, when it ended. He appeared in season six and later in seasons eight to twelve, remaining a central character. In Big Bang Theory, he worked alongside cast members Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Johnny Galecki, Melissa Rauch, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Mayim Bialik, Laura Spencer, Brian George, Wil Wheaton and John Ross Bowie.
In 2000 he was in Almost Famous. He had roles in films like Kissing Jessica Stein and A.I. Artificial Intelligence in 2001. In 2002, he was in Sweet Home Alabama. In 2005, he was in Hitch. In 2006, he appeared in Funny Money. Other notorious roles include Made of Honor, Insanitarium, Burn After Reading, Killers, Alpha and Omega, and Freeloaders.
In 1996, he was in Law & Order. After, he had notorious roles in different series. Notable ones include Third Watch, The Sopranos, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, ER, where he appeared in two episodes, My Name Is Earl, where he also showed up for two episodes, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, The Middleman, The Mentalist, The Good Guys, and Weeds.
He is set to appear in 2022’s The Dropout, which is a miniseries exploring the case of Elizabeth Holmes.
Just like his The Big Bang Theory character Stuart, Sussman worked at a comic book store at one point.
Kevin Sussman has three brothers.
Sussman specializes in characters who are nerds or geeks or appear to be. Stuart in The Big Bang Theory is a great example, being even nerdier than the main characters. His character in A.I. Artificial Intelligence is credited, in fact, as Supernerd.
Sussman wrote the TV movie Dark Minions, which came out in 2013. Dark Minions was an animated movie meant to become a series that focuses on two slackers hoping to earn their paycheck in space. Unfortunately, it only lasted 25 minutes and was not picked up for a show treatment. Dark Minions was co-written with fellow Big Bang Theory actor John Ross Bowie. Sussman and Bowie also voiced the main characters.
