Her early life and career beginnings

Phoebe’s parents, screenwriter Tim Dynevor and actress Sally Dynevor raised her alongside her younger siblings, Samuel and Harriet, in Altrincham, South Manchester. She attended Oakfield Nursery School Altrincham and Chesapeake Hulme School in Stockport, where she considered herself a misfit. Coming from a show biz family, her interest in acting began from a young age after positioning herself as a child actress and combining it with her studies. She planned to attend a drama school, but the regular movie roles got in the way, and nature took its course.

Phoebe’s professional career life

At fourteen, Phoebe landed a BBC School Soap Waterloo Road, where she portrayed Siobhan Mailey in the fifth series from 2009 to 2010. She appeared in other British TV dramas like Monroe in 2011, playing Phoebe Cormack and played a supporting role as Lauren in Prisoners’ wives from 2012 to 2013.

In 2014, she appeared as Phoebe Rundle in the second series of the BBC television series by Peter Moffat, set in the 20th century in Derbyshire village in the East Midlands of England. Unfortunately, the production discontinued the program after airing the second series.

She snagged an American tv debut in a starring role alongside Luke Pasqualino, Lucien Laviscount, Rupert Grint and others in Snatch, a crime comedy-drama streaming tv series created by Alex De Rakoff, loosely adapted from Guy Ritchie’s 2000 film. She played Lotti Mott in a story that centres around young scammers who gets further caught up in advanced criminal activities. Next, she landed a guest-starring role in the comedy-drama Younger, where she acted the recurring part of Clare, adapted from Pamela Redmond Satran’s novel Younger.

Despite landing movie roles, Phoebe’s little success disheartened her, making her feel like a failure for not attaining a desirable height in the film industry. On the brink of giving up, she packed her bag and bought a ticket to return to her hometown in Manchester. But fate had other plans for her. She auditioned for Bridgerton without knowing that it was the next big thing and missed her flight in the process. On snagging a role as Daphne Basset, the eldest daughter of the Bridgertons’ and the Duchess of Hastings in the eight-episode series that premiered on December 25, 2020, to critical acclaim, her life transformed. It became the most-watched show, garnering several nominations and, most importantly, quickly propelled Phoebe Dynevor to stardom, earning her award nominations.

In Bridgerton, she worked with Regé-Jean Page, Nicola Coughlan, Jonathan Bailey, Harriet Cains, Bessie Carter, Ruth Gemmell, Claudia Jessie, Luke Newton, Luke Thompson, Polly Walker, Ruby Barker, Ben Miller, Adjoa Andoh, Julie Andrews and Golda Rosheuvel.

After gaining global recognition, Phoebe landed her feature-length film debut, starring in a British drama film by Claire McCarthy, The Colour Room as Clarice Cliff. It focuses on the ceramic artist Clarice Cliff’s life in the 1920s and 1930s. She will also be starring in the films I Heart Murder, Fair Play and Exciting Times series, where she also serves as an executive producer.

Her personal life

Phoebe lives a lowkey and simple life in her small North London flat in Hampstead, enjoying walks, going to the cinema alone and cooking healthy plant-based meals.
